Football or Soccer ?

In Indonesia those two word are the same -
sepakbola, but in Australia they are two different sports. When I visited Australia for the first time back in 2004, I ended up being very confused.
" Let's watch the football on TV", I said.
They turned on the TV to another sport, wich Ihad never seen before in my life.
"What sport is that ?", I asked.
"That's football Adi.".
"Really ? People don't play football in Indonesia. They play Ronaldo's football."
"Ohh, that's soccer !".
Well, what's the difference ? At first, I thought it would be be a matter of British or American English, or a word choice in dictionary. However, to Australians, it's about two completely different sport ! Like the sky and the earth ! I realized then that football refers to the Australians style sport known as footy, and soccer is the most popular sport on this earth. So, be careful with those words when you're visiting Australia

It's not a shoe anymore, It's a machine !

Technology plays an important role in sports, whether applied to the athlete's health, technique or equipment used. Over the years as sports sports have grown more competitive the desire for better equipment has also grown. The first sports shoes, designed in 1868 were very simple. The uppers were made of canvas and the sole made of rubber. Things are very different today. Here are some recent developments in sports shoes.
  • Air, gel or high tech plastics, pumped into the mid section of the shoes to provide cushioning.
  • Flashing lights so the wearer can easily be seen in the dark.
  • A small instrument slipped into a specially designed pocket on the shoe which can record the runners speed, distance and calories used! This tiny piece of technology can be connected to a computer where other details can be seen. The runner can track their performance over days, weeks or months. The runner can also listen to music while he is running with this small piece of technology.
  • 'Veclro' fastenings instead of laces.
  • High tech materials such as rubber (the same as in tyres for formula one racing), Kevlar (a high tech material use in the production of some badminton and tennis racquets) and plastics as used in space programs.
No Longer are sports shoes as simple affair. Do your sports shoes help you to run faster?

Hysteria

it's bugging me, grating me
and twisting me around
yeah i'm endlessly caving in
and turning inside out

'cause i want it now
i want it now
give me your heart and you soul
and i'm breaking out
i'm breaking out
last chance to lose control

it's holding me, morphing me
and forcing me to strive
to be endlessly cold within
and dreaming i'm alive

'cause i want it now
i want it now
give me your heart and your soul
and i'm breaking down
i'm breaking out
last chance to lose control

and want you now
i want you now
i'll feel my heart implode
and i'm breaking out
escaping now
feeling my faith erode
